The legacy of Dubbel and Tripel beers has its roots in the tradition of Belgian brewers. At the time, they created beers with varying alcohol levels without being able to measure the exact percentage. To address this uncertainty, they used names to indicate the strength of their beers: the Dubbel, stronger than ordinary beer, and the Tripel, an even more powerful blonde. These beers, rich in flavour, quickly became iconic.

Today, the Dominicains brewery seeks to honour this tradition while making it accessible to everyone, by revisiting these classic names and taking it even further with their own Quadrupel.

The greatest challenge was to revisit the Dubbel while maintaining the historical appellation. The brewery wanted a specialty beer with a lower alcohol content than the Tripel, between 6% and 7%, while using the same yeast. Instead of following the trend of brown beers, they chose to return to a forgotten recipe: the Wit Dubbel, a double blonde made from wheat. The result is an incredibly easy-to-drink beer, yet rich and intense in flavour.

The Dominicains Tripel

THE ORIGINAL

The Dominicains Tripel is a blonde beer with golden shades due to the beer’s filtration which lightens it and makes it so easy to drink. The initial aromatic notes are striking and characterised by the taste of its yeast. The barley malts and alcohol soften its dry profile and contrast with its finish. The hops release herbal notes, nuanced by the coriander berry with a mild peppery flavour.

The Dominicains Quadrupel Quadrupel

THE MYTH

Once poured into the glass, this Quadrupel displays a white, creamy, and abundant foam. The initial taste is complex: a roundness marked by special malts blends with fruity esters from the top-fermentation yeasts. An exceptionally smooth and dry transition contrasts with its high alcohol content. Finally, its Herkules and Saaz hops, with their vegetal notes, complete this Quadrupel : splendid and generous in flavour.

OUR TASTING ADVICES

To fully appreciate the richness of our Dominicains beers, it is important to follow certain consumption practices. Ideally served between 6 and 8°C, they reveal all the complexity of their aromas without the freshness masking their subtleties. At this temperature, the flavours are better expressed, offering a balanced tasting experience.

It is also essential not to dilute the contents of the bottle with water or ice; our beers are brewed to be enjoyed neat, just as they were designed.

For optimal service, pour gently into a glass, allowing the foam to form and the aromas to develop. Using an appropriate glass preferably a chalice makes all the difference in capturing every nuance of flavour. Our Dominicains beers invite you to an authentic experience, designed for palates in search of refinement and pleasure.
