Le Ballon

Wine glass type is already a good start. Indeed, the wine glass serves both wine, cognac but also beer. It allows to ventilate the liquid in order to appreciate all the flavors.

However, beer and wine have nothing in common. Here are some tips for choosing your beer glasses.

This glass is ideal for sparkling beers, it can be used for lagers, lambics and fruity beers.

Faites attention lorsque vous versez votre bière, à ne pas aller trop vite, vous risqueriez d’avoir un col de  mousse trop grand.

The Tulip beer glass

Utilisés pour des bières Ale. C’est une forme ballon avec des bords évasés qui permettent d’aérer la bière dans le verre pour en dégager tous ses arômes.

The persistence of the foam is easier in the sense that when you taste a beer of this type, we will have a bouquet of aromatic more potent in the mouth with this form of glass. The fact of having flounted edges will also allow the rise of bubbles in order to always keep its beer bubbly.

Le verre à bière Calice

Used for Abbey and Trappist beers. It is a glass on foot resembling the Tulip glass but its foot is not so thin and its collar is very wide. The purpose of this type of beer is to bring the foam down faster in order to give space to the complex aromas that compose it.

Le verre à Weizen

Used for typical German beers that contain at least 50% wheat malt in the recipe. These are tall, footless glasses that promote optimal diffusion of banana esters (a group of favours associated with the fruity flavours in beer, produced by yeast during fermentation) and spices from Belgian and German wheat beers.

La Chope

Used for German beers. Equipped with a handle, the mug keeps the beer cool.

In Belgium, the beer players are more inclined to taste beer in the brand's glass. They are often designed for their own beers and to bring out all the flavours, to accentuate the sparkling or not, as well as to keep a tasty head. It's always interesting to have your own collection of beer glasses of each brand.
